Travelodge

Travelodge

Some jobs are quite a distance to travel to (which isn’t a problem), but it reduces the amount of hours that can be worked in one day if you have to consider travelling time.

Therefore, I’m giving Travelodge a whirl on the long distance jobs.

Having decided to do this it is then amazing to discover how many Travelodges don’t have parking! So the closest Travelodge to the job isn’t always an option.

UPDATE!!! – The Travelodge idea works a treat! Had a great stay at Wellingborough although it did have the shallowest bath known to man.

Be doing that again though!

The End Is Nigh

The End Is Nigh

I am approaching the end of what has been a hugely enjoyable job.

The house I am decorating has transformed itself from a building site into a lovely, comfortable home.

It’s been a whole house job. On my first day, the builder had just finished the restructuring, the plasterer had completed his sections and the tiler was part done in the bathrooms and kitchen. Appliances had started to arrive and they were waiting in their plastic wrappers.

A few short weeks ago it was hard to imagine anyone living in the house but bit by bit it has started to come together and now, the only items left to do are the carpets.

Sadly, my final day is tomorrow, when I shall be painting the doors before handing back my key, so I will never see the fully finished house.

However, it will be a fabulous house and home.

Wobbly Ladders

Wobbly Ladders

More specifically, Avoid Wobbly Ladders!
Is that painting job really worth breaking your arms or legs or both?!
Ladders and step ladders should be strong and robust. When you stand on them they should not move or wobble. If they do, do not climb them as they can twist underneath you and you risk falling and serious injury.

If you climb your ladders whilst carrying a pot of paint & brush you won’t have a free hand to balance yourself.

Check your ladders before climbing and avoid unnecessary injuries.

Getting the Decorators In
